In today’s Wall Street Journal, I have an article on the rediscovery of adventure writer Harold Lamb. During my research, I was surprised to learn how little has been written about the guy. Here’s a website run by Howard Jones, the editor of the recent Lamb volumes. Here’s an entry from The Cimmerian, an excellent blog dedicated to the heroic fantasy genre, which Lamb influenced without really joining. And here’s another comment, from the REHupa blog.

If you like Lamb, or what I wrote about him, check out Edgar Rice Burroughs, Robert E. Howard, and David Gemmell.

  • Many thanks for drawing some attention to my friend Howard A. Jones’s Lamb Labor of Love in the Wall Street Journal. Howard also got me into Leigh Brackett, for which I’m extremely grateful.

Re American Conservative Writers: Drury is, at least in foreign policy at the top of the list. Robert Hienlien, although a science fiction writer, had a libertarian streak that deserves to be explored.
