My National Review article on the GOP gubernatorial primary in Texas between Gov. Rick Perry and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison is here: “Between now and the first Tuesday in March … few elections in the United States will generate more interest and ink.” It will also cost about $50 million: “In a normal political cycle, the Lone Star State exports GOP funds to other states; over the next several months, it will devour them. … The Texas primary will wind up functioning like a parasite on the Republican body politic.”
