The last time I saw Andy McCarthy in person was at William F. Buckley’s funeral Mass. I slipped into a pew at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Andy was already sitting there. He recognized me before I recognized him. It felt appropriate, if for no other reason than WFB was a defender of that other McCarthy.

I’m glad to know this one. We’ve just posted our podcast about his new book, The Grand Jihad. It’s sure to outrage certain people, in the finest WFB tradition. It also makes Andy a two-time podcast victim. A couple of years ago, we had a conversation about his first book, Willful Blindness. It went on to become the first title published by Encounter Books to make the New York Times bestseller list.

Next week’s podcast: Gabriel Schoenfeld on national-security secrets and the First Amendment.
