Welcome to the twelfth stop on the book tour.
From The First Assassin: “They turned left, rounding the State Department and heading for Lafayette Park. They cut through it diagonally, right beneath the statue of [Andrew] Jackson. At the northwest corner of the park, they paused for the first time since leaving the Capitol. They seemed indecisive. Davis pointed one way, Stephens another.”
N.B.: In 1861, the State Department wasn’t in Foggy Bottom. It was next to the White House and the Treasury, just across the street from Lafayette Park.
