Long before Abraham Lincoln was a vampire hunter, and even before there was Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Loren Estleman wrote a novel called Sherlock Holmes vs. Dracula. It’s just been reissued, and Estleman is my latest NRO podcast victim.

Heard your podcast a few days ago. Got the book, read it and enjoyed it very much. Just starting on his Sherlock Holmes and Mr. Hyde book. Thanks for alerting me to these.

I was interested to find that, in his afterword to SHvD, Estleman mentions that Fred Saberhagen’s “The Holmes/Dracula File” was published within four months of his novel’s first coming out. An interesting example of literary synchronicity. I do recommend Saberhagen’s take on Sherlock Holmes and Dracula. He also brings in the Giant Rat of Sumatra “…a tale for which the world is not yet ready.”
