Hillsdale College’s new free online course is called “American Heritage,” after a course required of all students on campus. I play a small part in the proceedings, in a weekly 20-minute Q&A with the professors who give the lectures. The first is now posted. Hillsdale College president Larry Arnn and I talk about the purpose of studying history, whether the slaveholding Thomas Jefferson was a hypocrite for claiming “all men are created equal,” and what we mean when we talk about progress. We’re linking from NRO, so go here to tune in.
